bold is SO beautiful

i love jewelry.  actually, i like to call it baubles.  so, i love baubles.

spring/summer baubles are the most fun because they can punch up the plainest of outfits.

for fall/winter, i'm all about sweaters and boots, but there's not a whole lot that's better than color.  cheers!

Monday is for Music!

coachella was this past weekend, but i'm sure you know that because EVERYONE was tweeting about it.

i'm not bringing you live performances from coachella though or any tupac holograms.  that's kind of done now.

here's this week's music (sorry if i sound uninspired---not so much that is new and great).  feel free to leave suggestions for next week!

5 - the kooks - how'd you like that

4 - carly rae jepsen - call me maybe

warning:  this one is so poppy, but it could be fun girls night music or riding in the car alone music.

3 - norah jones - happy pills

you don't like norah jones?  get out of my life.  also, there's murder, so that's fun.

2 - haley reinhart - free

you like smoky, sultry voices like norah jones?  try this american idol finalist.

1 - the wombats - jump into the fog

this is a fun song that's good for singing along on the radio.  i probably like it more than the rest posted this week.

vh1 has a good music video section with "fresh new music."  don't worry.  they play pretty much none of these on tv, but it was good for some inspirado when music monday came around and i was uninspired--successfully reminded me of songs and artists that i like, so there.

enjoy this week's installment and let me know what you want to see featured next!

cheers!

big day - and men's fashion don'ts!

so, it's a big day in our household - we're getting ready to go to our first braves game of the season!!!

go braves!  let's hope they win!

in related news, men's fashion is on full display at any sporting event, and there are some fashion don'ts that i feel the need to help the less-fashionable gender figure out.

5 - no cell phones on your hip or ear.

oh, i'm sorry--you can't walk without your cell strapped to your hip or your bluetooth device in your ear?  get your life right.  you look like a fool.  keep it in your pocket.  on vibrate.  we don't want to hear your ringtones either.

everybody makes mistakes.

4 - CARGO SHORTS

yes, i capitalized that on purpose.  you don't need all that pocket space.  you're not doing that much work.  wear real shorts.

3 - hemp and or sharks tooth style necklaces.

if i have to elaborate on this one, we're gonna have a problem

2 - jerseys

okay at the sporting event, but don't wear them anywhere else.  you will look stupid.

1 - too much of anything -

too much jewelry

just stop.

too much hair product

it's not good.

too much of anything looks silly.

oh well, i'm off to get ready for the game.  anymore suggestions for fashion don'ts for guys?  leave them in the comments.

cheers!

a little of this, a little of that...

so, last week you only got music.  my bad.  it wasn't even a lot of music.

i will promise you'll get a bit more than that this week (just in this post), but i can't guarantee much more than that.

first - some music - i'm not going to give you several, but i will give you this.

mayer hawthorne - the walk

second - fashion (or kind of)

so, if you're my friend on facebook, you saw me post about the bustier/bralette trend on the rise.  i'm just not so sure about this.  i understand that they're trying to modernize it and fashion it up, but still this...

00200m

mostly reminds me of this...

and even a little of this...

think about it!

i'll be back with more soon--i promise!
cheers!

Here's a quickie...

Obviously, I'm behind this week.  Here's a quickie.  I'll be back with more soon.

Cheers!

Here's what...

  • political times can lead you to hate facebook/twitter/people...
  • i've been listening to a lot of the civil wars and nickel creek lately...so, if anyone wants me for their bluegrass band, i'm in.  i can sing, but i have no other instrumental talents.
  • baby naming is hard.
    • middle name is most likely brett
    • not going with eason as the first name
    • not going with will/william/liam either
    • any other ideas are welcome

Music on a Tuesday!

It's been a busy few days....Hunger Games midnight opener - awesome, Andrews-Morrison Wedding - directed, quick trip to washington/augusta - check.  So, yeah, i'm taking advantage of my spring break.

However, there is no spring break from music, so here's to some jams that i'm into today:

5 - Lil Wayne and Robin Thicke - Pretty Lil Heart
So, I'm an old lady and don't jam on this sort of thing too much, but i LOVE this song.  I know it's already wildly popular, but I had to post it in case you don't know it yet.  Get to know it.  It is sexy.

4 - Taylor Swift & The Civil Wars - Safe & Sound

3 - Arcade Fire - Abraham's Daughter

I can't include this video, but here's a link to the song with a montage of movie scenes:

http://youtu.be/X4XB4fSj_UI

This is the song from the credits, and it really captures the mood of the movie.  Also, it is one of my new jams.

I'm not going to put up anything else from the soundtrack, but just know that it's a good one.

2 - Dire Straits - Romeo & Juliet

So, there's more soundtrack magic even without The Hunger Games.  While in Washington, I got to rewatch my favorite movie, Empire Records, and I was thinking about how awesome its soundtrack is.  Here's one of the hits!

1 - Justin Bieber - Boyfriend

So, I'm not really into this one, but it's kind of a big deal.  I think listening to it is kinda sexually predatory.  He's a child.

Swag, indeed....go see hunger games, let me know what's good on the music horizon, and cheers!
