random tuesday

I'm a bit scattered. This blog will be too.

First, in light of no music monday this week, here's a song.

Also, here's my friend's design blog. She's pretty great.

Finally, I don't have a kid. If I did though, I would be working on his/her halloween costume, and he/she would definitely be this:

30 before 30??? pt. 1

I totally stole this from sarah, and I'm going to be modifying it a bit because well, i only have a bit over 2 years before I hit 30, so I can't really make 30 BIG goals in that time.

So, here it is, 30 goals, but large and small, I want to hit before I hit the big 3-0. I'll explain some of them a bit, most of them, not so much. They should be self-explanatory.

So, in the essence of not wasting your time, I'm certainly not going to write all 30 in one blog, probably 5 goals, six times.

Let's get started!

30 - paint or draw a new picture (big) for the dining room.
i'm tired of looking at the lovely picture that brett purchased awhile back, and i can't afford what i want, so i must break out the art skills.

29 - get my master's
(I finish in december!! woohoo!!)

28 - clean out my closet
i need to downsize in a major way. i have so many things i do not wear.

27 - become a runner.
at least temporarily. i want to run something. people that run seem to love it, so gradually, i'm going to get myself there.

26 - completely stop drinking soda.
so hard. i know water is better for me, but i love the bubbles. i've cut back dramatically, but i need to finish the transition.

So, the list will continue next week. Please let me know if you have any ideas for me to add!

Cheers to goals and hopefully achieving them!

mmm...fall...

i'm still having trouble getting back in the swing of blogging, but hey, i'm still doing better than sarah. (http://thesecherrystreets.blogspot.com/)

anyway, update on the dress situation for the engagement party--i forgot to order one of the dresses, so i had to shop locally. i'd love to show you what i ended up with, but, sadly, i can't find a picture.

oh well. moving on, fall is creeping in with cool mornings and non-sweltering days, and i wanted to make a list of things that i love about fall.

5 - duh, pumpkin lattes.

4 - fall nail color, suggestion #1 - opi - get in the expresso lane

3 - scarves.
i have a scarf drawer. i also wear scarves when it probably is inappropriate, so i'm obviously very happy when fall is here, so it doesn't seem odd.

2 - soup!!
my take on soup is a lot like mine on scarves. i eat soup when it is way to hot too, so when it finally gets cold, i really endulge.

1 - fall tv!
the summer is hard. all of the good shows are on break, and all i have to make myself feel better is bachelor pad and abc family dramas. thank goodness that community, parks and rec, how i met your mother, and big bang theory are back. there are others too, but i got tired of listing awesome shows.

what are your fall loves? let me know in the comments, and maybe i'll fall in love with some new fall fun!

cheers to cooler weather and amazing tv!

jewelry as art? Yes, please!

I am not a crafty person. I want to be (sometimes), but I generally fail at things of this sort.

However, recently (or within the last few months), I purchased a framed cork board from Hobby Lobby with the intent of hanging on the bedroom wall and storing my jewelry.

What could be better? Jewelry organization + occupied wall space! Plus, jewelry is art, right?

Check out the finished product:

Oh, and cheers! It's the weekend!

I need your help!!

Whoa, two blogs in one day. Watch out.

Really though, I need your help. I have an engagement party to go to at the end of the month, and I don't know what to wear.

Early fall can be weird because it might not be coldish, but it might be kind of chilly. Or it could just be stupid hot.

Also, it is a cocktail attire, so there's that too.

Anyway, here are some ideas. Please tell me what you think.

3 - Cityscapes Dress

2 - Lucy Love Dress

1 - a bit simpler.

Please tell me your thoughts in the comments, and feel free to post links to something else you think I should wear.

Guess who's back? (back again)

Sorry I was away for a week there. Monday was a holiday, then I was sick, so blogging fell away for a moment. Never fear though! I have returned! (And on music monday no less)

This week's music monday post is dedicated to covers because, well, who doesn't love a good cover, and also because there was a time (many moons ago) when covers were kind of my thing. and i had a show on mercer radio. and i was the cover girl. jealous?

Anyway, let's get to the good stuff!

5 - Hanson covering Weezer's Troublemaker
Rivers Cuomo himself tweeted a shoutout to the lovely Hanson boys about this one the other day.

4 - Hugo covering Jay-Z's 99 problems
I just love this song, so any version is good in my book.

3 - Adele covering The Cure's Lovesong
So, I've probably had enough adele on here for awhile, but here's a nice one to go out on. Plus, it's live because she's that good.

2 - Mr. Little Jeans covering Arcade Fire's The Suburbs
I've only heard this one a couple of times on Sirius XMU, but I like its groove.

1 - The Wallflowers cover David Bowie's Heroes
Stop acting like you don't dig this.

Bonus (because I took a week off)
